Board members and school representatives used part of the meeting to recognize spring athletic accomplishments across the district’s two high schools.
Jeff Riley, speaking on behalf of High School South, said it was “with great pride” that he represented the student athletes and coaches and reported that at least 12 South student-athletes will continue to compete at the collegiate level. Speakers highlighted team titles, postseason honors and individual records: Coach Stephanie Piggee received the CBC Coaches Sportsmanship Award for High School South; the boys varsity volleyball team won the BCSL Liberty Division and other postseason titles; and multiple players received all-league and all-state recognitions.
The board also recognized individual achievements at High School North, including a multi-time record-breaking performance by Julius Kinsler (transcript lists the South 400m record entry and notes he will attend Boston University). The transcript records a 400-meter performance as “4722” (transcription unclear); the board cited several sectional and Meet of Champions placings across girls and boys events.
These recognitions were ceremonial and no board action related to athletics was taken during the recognition period. The board thanked coaches, athletes and families and then proceeded to the regular agenda.
(Clarifying note: a numeric time and several place names in the transcript are garbled; the article avoids asserting an exact numeric performance time without confirmation from official athletic results.)
