Montezuma County approves Enterprise fleet replacement but reserves two Trailblazers

Montezuma County commissioners on June 30 approved a proposal from Enterprise to replace a portion of the county fleet, while preserving the option to remove two Chevy Trailblazers from the purchase.

The Enterprise representative told the board that securing a build date typically takes 30 to 60 days after ordering and that delivery can take up to about six months. Commissioners questioned the timeliness of particular models and discussed whether purchasing some smaller units outright would be more practical.

One commissioner moved to approve the Enterprise proposal with the option to pull the two Trailblazers; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote. The motion as recorded left explicit authority to exclude the Trailblazers if county finance staff, including Rob in finance, advised an alternate procurement path.

County Administrator Travis and board members emphasized the need for specific identification of any vehicles to be removed before finalizing purchases, and said the board would follow up with staff for details on model-year availability and financing. The board did not specify final delivery dates; Enterprise estimated build-dating and a six-month lead time if ordered.

The vote concluded a presentation and brief discussion whose key questions centered on model availability, potential direct purchases of certain smaller vehicles, and the timing of replacements relative to county operations. The board recorded the motion as moved and seconded and indicated unanimous approval on the record.

Next steps: staff will confer with finance to identify whether the two Trailblazers should be removed and will return to the board with any recommended adjustments prior to final ordering.
