"It is my honor to be able to to take this and accept this role," Dr. Mitell said after the vote. He noted he began his assignment with the district on August 28, 2025, has been in the district about 10 months and said he is "here to help" ensure Dover Area School District students succeed.
Outgoing superintendent Dr. Hal told the board he was "very comfortable" leaving the district "in very very good hands," saying the appointee is knowledgeable and places students at the center of decisions.
The board then moved to adjourn and closed the special meeting. No further action or follow-up steps were announced at the session.
