The Los Angeles City Council confirmed two mayoral nominations during the June 30 meeting.
Councilmember Hernández introduced the mayor’s nominee for City Engineer, identified in the meeting as Cristal. Councilmembers praised the nominee’s vision for collaboration across departments and for tackling long repair timelines. Cristal told the council she would prioritize cross‑departmental collaboration, technology and project delivery. The council voted 14‑0 to confirm the nomination.
Later in the meeting the council heard from Jun Kim López, the mayoral nominee for Executive Director of the Department of Sanitation. López outlined more than 30 years in public service and said she would prioritize wastewater reliability, emergency preparedness and modernization of service delivery. The council again voted unanimously (14‑0) to confirm her appointment.
Both confirmations were recorded during the meeting’s regular agenda and were accompanied by brief council remarks thanking the nominees and the mayor’s office for the selections.
