Cole County Commission approves routine contracts, tax-sale disbursement and GEMT letter; holds closed session

Presiding Commissioner Sam Bushman convened the Cole County Commission on June 23, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. The panel unanimously approved several routine financial items and held a closed session to discuss communications with the county auditor.
Commissioner Harry Otto moved to renew the county’s student insurance with NSO at a cost of $1,120; Commissioner Jeff Hoelscher seconded the motion, and all three commissioners — Presiding Commissioner Sam Bushman, Commissioner Jeff Hoelscher and Commissioner Harry Otto — voted yes. Otto also moved to approve payment of $12,670 to Outdoor Warning Consulting LLC for a battery replacement proposal; Hoelscher seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Collector Larry Vincent brought forward a Tax Sale Surplus claim related to a delinquent 2024 tax sale and recommended issuing a check to Sheldon Gentry Inc. for $13,869.06. Commissioner Otto moved to approve the disbursement as requested by the Collector; Commissioner Hoelscher seconded and the motion passed with all commissioners voting yes.
In unfinished business, Commissioner Hoelscher moved to approve and sign the FY25/26 GEMT Representation Letter; Commissioner Otto seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The commission also voted to approve Accounts Payable pending review (motion by Commissioner Otto, seconded by Commissioner Hoelscher; unanimous).
The board moved into a closed session at 9:13 a.m. under Section 610.021(18) of the Revised Statutes of Missouri to discuss communication between the public body and its auditor. The commission exited closed session at 9:38 a.m. and stood in recess until 4:30 p.m. The minutes note formal adjournment at 4:30 p.m. The commission’s next scheduled meeting is Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
