District counsel (Mr. Clapmire) told trustees that HMNEA had ratified a tentative agreement reached during spring negotiations; the board approved the collective bargaining agreement by roll call. The administration noted representatives from the union were present for the meeting.
Separately, Dr. Edwards presented a DESIE grant award of $58,913 to purchase licenses for an AI-driven tutoring platform. Administration selected Warford as the initial focus school because of a high number of students with reading success plans; 81 of the licenses will support one-to-one tutoring while all approximately 350 Warford students will have access to platform lessons. The board approved the grant-funded purchase by roll call.
Trustees asked clarifying questions about vendor selection and whether an RFP was required; staff said DESIE provided an approved vendor list for the grant and that the selected vendor met grant requirements.
The approvals were unanimous on the floor.
