Denison tables proposed senior center lease after Crawford County Council for Aging raises insurance, expiration concerns

The Denison City Council on Feb. 18 tabled further discussion of a proposed senior center lease after representatives of the Crawford County Council for Aging (CCCA) raised concerns about liability insurance requirements and the lease’s expiration and renewal language.
City staff member Garcia said the city attorney drafted a lease in November and that staff had met with the CCCA twice; the CCCA later produced a revised draft addressing insurance and expiration terms. Ron Songer and Don Eggert, appearing for the CCCA, asked the council to accept the CCCA’s proposed language and requested that original paperwork be incorporated into the new draft. Garcia said she would meet again with the CCCA and seek guidance from the City Attorney before returning the matter to council.
Councilmember Miller moved and Zupp-Smith seconded a motion to table the discussion to allow further review; the motion carried unanimously. No formal changes to the lease were approved at the meeting, and council directed staff to pursue attorney review and additional meetings with the CCCA.
