Malden council approves lease, roof repair and sale of surplus police vehicle

At its Feb. 23 meeting the Malden City Council authorized a commercial lease signatory, approved a $17,370 roof repair for Fire Station 2, declined an outside HR consulting contract in favor of in-house training, and approved sale of a 2016 police Charger to a neighboring department for $5,000–$5,500.
The Malden City Council on Feb. 23 approved several operational items in a brief business session.
Lease authorization: Council Member Downs moved to authorize Mayor Denton Kooyman to sign a lease with CEF Farms & Fullerton Farms Trucking LLC; Council Member House seconded and the motion carried 6-0.
Fire Station 2 roof: Council Member Downs moved to accept Reeve's Roofing Co. LLC’s bid of $17,370 to repair Fire Station 2’s roof; Council Member House seconded and the motion carried 6-0.
HR services: The council reviewed a proposal from a Springfield, Mo.–based Human Resources consulting firm for training and ongoing HR advisory services for City Clerk Jessie Cobb. Council members said they prefer building in-house HR capacity, suggested off-site classes (MIRMA, MoCCFOA, MML) for Cobb, and decided not to hire the firm. Staff were directed to research additional training options.
Surplus vehicle sale: Council Member Beckett moved to approve sale of a 2016 silver MDPS police Charger (minor fixes needed) to the Qulin Police Department for a listed price between $5,000 and $5,500; Council Member House seconded and the motion carried 6-0.
The council adjourned at 6:44 p.m.
