Bids for Brown County Bridge #FAS-51 come in under engineer’s estimate

Brown County commissioners heard bid submissions for Bridge #FAS-51 on 170th Street at their June 22 meeting. Brady Hedstrom of BG Consultants presented an engineer’s estimate of $971,768 and recorded two bids.
B & B Bridge Company LLC of Saint Paul, Kansas, submitted a bid of $767,480.47. Ebert Construction of Wamego, Kansas, submitted a bid of $810,602.67. Hedstrom told the commission he will review the bids and prepare a recommendation for the board.
No contract award or vote occurred at the meeting; the board’s next steps are to await BG Consultants’ recommendation and then decide whether to accept a bid or take other procurement action. The bridge project remains in the procurement phase pending the consultant’s formal recommendation.
