Redevelopment commission approves change order and payments, including $253,350 roundabout draw

The Hobart City Redevelopment Commission approved several project payments and contract actions at its March 16 meeting.

Staff recommended payment of change order No. 9 for the Colorado tracking project to address a service connection where Nipsco relocated a service pole; the change order was recorded in the meeting materials at approximately $6,688 and staff said the overall project remained about $64,000 under budget, meaning no net RDC overage would be required. The commission moved, seconded, and approved the change order so work can proceed.

The board also approved a payment application for roundabout improvements in the amount of $253,350. Commissioners discussed limiting landscaping to low-maintenance materials to avoid shifting ongoing upkeep to the park department; staff said the work is largely complete and the payment request reflects that status.

The commission reviewed and approved the register of claims and invoices totaling approximately $280,409.46 covering RDC and project invoices, including items for pre-filter station improvements, engineering support tied to the air-service agreement, and an ALTA survey related to Greenwood parcel acquisition. The commission next approved bond requisitions (listed as items 76 and 77 in the packet) representing the RDC share of lease rental bond disbursements for ongoing infrastructure work.

Staff noted some line items and project requisitions will continue to be tracked as projects proceed; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the public transcript apart from voice approval.
