Extension director introduces himself; county extension educator resigns effective immediately

Derek Scasta introduced himself to the Albany County Commissioners at the June 30 meeting, saying he took over for Mandy Marne in extension and thanked commissioners and staff for their support. “I took over for Mandy Marne, who was the director of extension,” Scasta said during his brief remarks.
Scasta said he works with associate directors and county extension agents and announced that educator Brena resigned effective that day; the office will begin recruiting to refill the position. He also said the extension office will be conducting a salary survey to better understand market value for county staff and to inform equitable pay adjustments going forward.
Scasta thanked the commission for support of extension programs and acknowledged staff departures and upcoming recruitment as routine transitions for the office. The commission did not take a separate formal vote on staffing at the meeting.
