Board approves claims, assessor recommendations and clerk fees; hears maintenance updates

At the Nov. 17 meeting the Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors approved routine fiscal and administrative items and heard operations updates from staff.

The Auditor reported claims were prepared; the board moved and seconded to approve the claims as presented. The board also approved the county and city assessor recommendations (which the auditor said are required annually under the Code of Iowa) and the clerk's monthly report of fees.

Brandon (staff member) briefed the board on road-maintenance work: mechanics are troubleshooting a power-related issue on a piece of equipment, crews are working on shoulders to address water retention, and regular maintenance continues. He said temporary fixes are possible but staff are seeking a more permanent repair and that eventual replacement may be considered. Brandon also reported that snow-equipment components should be mounted by Thanksgiving and that sand/salt stockpiles are ready. He described fencing work on the north boundary of the Illinois property as a likely spring project to reduce bike traffic through wooded areas.
