Sharon BOF approves arborist study for Sidewalk Improvement Project at $15,745.87

First Selectman Flanagan told the Sharon Board of Finance on April 21 that public questions raised at a previous informational meeting about the Sidewalk Improvement Project could not be answered without specialist review, particularly concerns about tree root systems.
Cardinal Engineering proposed contracting a licensed arborist to assess the current health of trees in the project area, evaluate potential impacts on rooting systems and walkways, recommend measures to protect trees and sidewalks, review sidewalk material options, and attend another public informational meeting to present findings. The proposed fee for these services is $15,745.87.
Mr. Bartram moved to accept Cardinal Engineering's proposal and allocate the funds from the Roads/Bridges Construction account; Mrs. Robertson seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The Board discussed that if the health of trees changes in the future, the baseline report would help identify causes.
