Mrs. Pastre and Mrs. Toppan reported they had researched options consistent with the settlement guidelines and presented two primary possibilities: a town purchase of automated external defibrillators for the ambulance squad, or a contribution to the regional response fund.
For transparency, the town auditor advised following the normal municipal expenditure process (Board of Selectmen to Board of Finance to Town Meeting). The Board asked for formal written requests from the Ambulance Squad and the Response Fund that list intended uses and itemized costs before any decision is made.
The Board agreed the town should, when practicable, keep settlement funds in‑town. No expenditure was approved at the meeting; members instructed staff to solicit and circulate the requested cost estimates ahead of the next meeting.
