LACONIA, N.H. — The Laconia School Board on June 29 unanimously approved five personnel nominations for the 2026-27 school year, advancing a slate that includes three teacher placements and two principal appointments.
A district staff member presented the nominations, saying, “We are very excited to have some nominations take place,” and summarized each candidate’s experience and certification. The board voted 5–0 to approve Mary Lacy as a second-grade teacher at Elm Street School; Marissa Parent as a third-grade teacher at Elm Street School; Robin Clayton as Elm Street’s special education teacher; Daniel Wy as principal of Laconia Middle School; and Aaron Jones as principal of Pleasant Street School.
The presenter said Mary Lacy has four years of special-education experience at the middle school level and prior long-term substitute work; she holds a dual major in special education and elementary education. Marissa Parent was described as having served as a long-term substitute during the 2025–26 school year, four years’ preschool experience and certification in early childhood education and early childhood special education. Robin Clayton was introduced as a special-education teacher at Pleasant Street School for four years with prior experience in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. The board’s nominee for middle-school principal, Daniel Wy, was described as an assistant principal in the Manchester district for five years and as certified in health, physical education and school administration. Aaron Jones was described as a 23‑year classroom teacher with local ties to Pleasant Street and certification in elementary education and school leadership.
Board members asked no substantive follow-up questions during the public portion of the meeting, and there were no public comments on the nominations. The transcript records motions and seconds for each appointment but does not identify the individual board members who moved or seconded each motion; each recorded vote was 5–0 in favor. The presenter and board members congratulated the nominees after each vote.
