The East Marshall board approved adding a Strat 2 special-education position at the high school to address caseload concerns. A presenter described a candidate, Alexis Shupe, as a paraprofessional working toward a master's degree and eligible for a conditional class B license from the Board of Educational Examiners.
"Her name is Alexis Shupe and she currently is a PAR professional working towards her masters and certification in this area," the presenter said. The presenter described the high-school special-education roster as growing (projected to 31'–32 students) and noted the position had been vacant for at least two years, making the hire a capacity priority.
The motion to add the Strat 2 position and hire the recommended candidate was moved, seconded and approved by the board; the transcript records approval but does not provide a roll-call vote tally.
Next steps: staff will complete required conditional-license paperwork and proceed with contracting for the Strat 2 position.
