At its June 16 meeting the Davis County Commission approved a series of routine administrative and community items by unanimous vote.
Highlights and votes at a glance: • Proclamation: The Commission approved a proclamation declaring June 30, 2026, as "Colonel Daniel L. Cornelius Day" in Davis and Weber Counties on a motion by Vice Chair Bob Stevenson; Commissioner Lorene Kamalu praised the colonel and his family as he transitions to Pentagon duties.
• Settlement: The Commission approved a settlement and release of claims with Jake Santos in the amount of $9,627.12, as presented by Chief Deputy Neal Geddes of the Attorney’s Office; county HR and UCIP resolved medical bills and attorney fees without outside counsel.
• Sponsorships: Two Tourism Fund sponsorships were approved: $10,000 to CenterPoint Legacy Theatre for the 2026 season and two shows of the 2027 season, and $10,000 to the Davis Arts Council for 2026; Kent Andersen (Community & Economic Development – Tourism) noted both come from the Tourism Fund.
• Registers and minutes: The Commission approved the 1347 Register and several meeting minutes, and approved the Property Tax Register during a recess to the Board of Equalization.
• Bus use agreement: The Commission approved a bus use agreement with the Bountiful Historic Preservation Foundation and Bountiful City to provide buses for a Historical Homes Tour on July 25, 2026; Brian Hatch (Health – Senior Services) said two buses and drivers will be provided with no age limit.
All listed items were approved with unanimous votes from commissioners present. Motions were noncontroversial and no sustained public comment was recorded on these items.
