Abbeville honors outgoing intern and wins state community achievement award

At its Aug. 5 meeting the Abbeville City Council heard from outgoing intern Cohen Wise about his experience, and Mayor Castle announced the city won the Louisiana Municipal Association Community Achievement Award for downtown road improvements.
Cohen Wise, an outgoing city hall intern, described working on grant management, code enforcement research and event planning during his internship and encouraged the council to continue supporting the internship program as a pathway into public service.
Mayor Castle announced that Abbeville received the Louisiana Municipal Association Community Achievement Award for Outstanding Community Improvement and Community Development for downtown road improvements in 2024, presented plaques to council members and said the award will be shared on the city’s social channels.
