At its July 1 meeting the Abbeville City Council approved a set of routine administrative items.
Council authorized the surplus of an unusable pile of crushed asphalt at the airport so a party with hauling equipment may remove it; staff said the material is effectively valueless and the hauler must provide equipment and escorted access. The council also approved a vendor quote (recorded in the transcript as from “Tremble”) for equipment, software, training and support to enable field crews to collect GPS coordinates and move the city’s infrastructure maps into GIS. The transcript lists the vendor quote amount unclearly; staff said the equipment will be demonstrated at the next meeting.
The council approved a special-event permit for St. Mary Magdalene Church to hold a “feast in the square” on July 20, 2025, with the application listing an expected attendance of about 200; the event is nonprofit and a small fee was noted in the record.
All items were approved by voice vote; the transcript does not record a detailed roll call for these routine approvals.
