Chris (public works) told council that the property at 704 South St. "is no stranger to the council" and said it had been condemned in August 2024. He recommended the city bid demolition and a full clean-up, including removal of sheds, fencing, and animal enclosures, and said the city will return contract amounts to council for approval.
Chris asked for a motion to proceed with bidding and said, "I'm going to move clean the property ... I'm going to bid it out and when we have that number, we'll bring it back for council to approve it." Council made and seconded a motion to proceed with bidding; the motion carried.
Residents in the audience commented about neighborhood potholes and contractor delays in related areas; staff said those are separate issues being addressed through existing contract management and legal channels. Council directed staff to return to the council with bid results and a recommended contract award for formal approval.
