Land Use Committee reappoints Director Brian Giff with 3% increase

Chair Doug Stockley read the resolution, which specified the position as an at-will, FLSA-exempt, nonunion employee and set the compensation for 12/1/2026–11/30/2027 at $110,243.42. The resolution said future annual compensation would be determined by committee and county salary processes and that the director would receive the same benefits as other nonunion county employees.
Committee discussion noted the figure represented a 3% increase consistent with previously approved nonunion adjustments. A motion to amend and approve the resolution was seconded, and the committee proceeded to a roll-call vote. Members recorded the following votes: Kathy Owens — Aye; Steve Aubrey — Aye; Dave Torres — Aye; Kathy Bright — Aye; Tom Miller — Aye; Carol Weidman — Aye; Doug Stockley — Aye. The resolution passed.
The committee noted procedural routing (corrections to committee naming in the resolution) and agreed that further salary discussions for other positions would occur during the August budget discussion. The reappointment will be transmitted through the normal committee and full-board routing as required by county procedure.
