Select Board approves $30,000 fire transfer, 72.5-cent mileage rate and Spring Street streetlight (4-1)

The Clinton Select Board on Feb. 25 cleared a string of administrative and budget items, including a $30,000 transfer to support remaining Fire Department fiscal-year expenses, an update to the mileage reimbursement rate, and a citizen request to add a streetlight on Spring Street.
A motion to approve a $30,000 transfer requested by the Fire Chief passed unanimously (motion seconded by Matt Kobus). The board also updated the mileage reimbursement to 72.5 cents per mile to align with the Internal Revenue Service rate; the motion to adopt the IRS rate was approved by roll call. The meeting record shows the motion language for the mileage update contained a typographical error; the board's intent was to adopt the IRS rate of 72.5 cents per mile.
Other votes: the board approved an abatement of a water/sewer bill caused by a leak at an uninhabited property (motion by Mary Rose Dickhaut; passed 5-0), and approved a $250 donation to the CHS Robotics Team (motion by Matt Kobus; passed 5-0). The board also voted to schedule a Ways & Means hearing at Town Hall for March 27.
On a split vote the board approved installing a streetlight on Spring Street. The vote was 4-1 with Chair Julie Perusse voting Nay and the other four members voting Aye; Perusse asked staff to develop a standard process for handling streetlight requests.
The meeting concluded with announcements, including a Community Basketball Fundraiser set for March 11 at 6 p.m., and the board entering executive session at 8:40 p.m. for collective bargaining; the board did not return to open session.
