Fairfield mayor and council approve unpaid leave for dispatcher and ratify PBA settlement

First, members voted to rescind a prior motion and approve an unpaid leave of absence for dispatcher Crystal Papis. The motion to approve the leave was moved and seconded by council members on the floor and passed by the council members present.
Second, the council approved Resolution 2026-362, authorizing the township to approve and execute a settlement agreement with PBA Local number 81. The resolution was moved, seconded and approved during the meeting; the resolution number and that it concerned a settlement with the police union were stated on the record.
No members of the public stepped forward during the invited public-comment period. The mayor also used the meeting to remind residents about a community parade scheduled for Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. along Hollywood Avenue with fireworks later and a public viewing of the U.S. soccer game on the field’s large screens.
The special meeting adjourned after the two actions and the announcements. The meeting notice was posted on the township website and the municipal building bulletin board on June 25, 2026, as stated on the record.
