Arnolds Park council approves budget amendment, agreements, licenses and routine items

At its June 10 meeting the Arnolds Park City Council took a series of routine but consequential actions: it approved Resolution No. 24-2026 adopting Budget Amendment No. 1 for FY 2025–2026 following a public hearing with no comments; approved renewing liquor and tobacco licenses for local businesses and a transient merchant permit; and approved a Lake Street closure for July 25, 2026 for the University of Okoboji Corvette Club.
The council approved Resolution No. 26-2026, entering a TNR and impound agreement with the Humane Society of Northwest Iowa for FY 2026–2027, and Resolution No. 27-2026, approving the annual agreement with the Regional Transit Authority, Inc./RIDES. Resolution No. 28-2026 authorized an engagement agreement with Berens-Tate Consulting Group to provide arbitrage rebate consulting services. Each of these resolutions was introduced, seconded and passed by unanimous roll call votes.
City staff updates included a Park Board report that approved plans for city beach improvements and announced a joint public hearing with council on July 8 to discuss the Boater’s Access Campground. Kara Rice provided the fiscal year-end 2025 library statistics summary. Jeremy Kleve said speed signs on 202nd Street will be installed next week and stated he has met with area police departments and the county to develop an ordinance to regulate e-bikes and electric scooters. A resident expressed frustration with heavy traffic and stoplights; Councilmember Smith raised concerns about golf carts operating on sidewalks. The meeting adjourned at 6:23 p.m.
