The Arnolds Park City Council on June 10 adopted Ordinance No. 2026-02, which adds new regulations for accessory dwelling units (ADUs) and updates variance standards, and Ordinance No. 2026-03, which amends Chapter 165 to add minimum requirements for residential structures and an Amusement Park Supplementary Ride Regulations section. Both ordinances were introduced, seconded and approved by unanimous roll call votes.
The measures followed a Planning and Zoning Commission recommendation and a public hearing opened by Mayor Jim Hussong at 5:31 p.m. during which Clerk Linda Nase and Councilmember Smith reviewed the proposed text changes. During the hearing a resident questioned the square-footage requirement for ADUs; no written comments were received. The council closed the public hearing at 5:41 p.m. and subsequently voted to adopt the ordinances and to waive the second and third readings.
Ordinance No. 2026-02 was introduced by Smith and seconded by Pas; the roll call recorded Ayes: Adams, Pas, Richter, Christensen and Smith, with no nays. Ordinance No. 2026-03 was introduced by Richter and seconded by Adams and passed by the same unanimous tally; council later voted to waive additional readings for both ordinances (Smith/Pas and Richter/Adams, respectively). The ordinances amend the city’s municipal code, Chapter 165, and add clarified standards the council and Planning and Zoning Commission will use in permitting and enforcement.
A resident’s question about ADU square footage was noted during the hearing; the transcript records the concern but does not specify the exact square-footage proposed or whether the council amended any numeric thresholds during the meeting. The ordinances were adopted as read, and the council took no further amendments during the June 10 session.
