Cordele, Ga. — At its June 16 meeting the Cordele City Commission approved reappointments to the Cordele Carnegie Library board and voted to forward a proposed zoning-code amendment to the planning commission for the required review and public hearings.
The commission moved to reappoint existing and new members to three-year terms for the library board; the transcript lists Curtis Lucas and the replacement of Cindy Jenkins with Gina Moore among the actions taken. The body then discussed an amendment to a zoning code section described in the meeting as repealing the Board of Zoning Appeals and giving the mayor and commission the authority to hear zoning appeals. City legal staff explained the amendment is a text change that must go through the planning commission hearing process before the commission considers adoption.
By voice vote the commission approved reappointments and authorized staff to convey the zoning amendment to the planning commission and proceed with the public-notice and hearing steps required by law.
