Council sets deadlines for demolition, debris removal and boarding orders on multiple properties

The St. Martinville City Council on Feb. 16 granted a series of enforcement deadlines for dilapidated properties, acting on requests from residents and local organizations and recording a Mayor's Court nuisance order reported by the police chief.
At the request of Brad Horton of Acadiana Credit Plan, the council granted 30 days to demolish the structure at 314 Lasalle Street and remove debris (motion moved by Councilman Mike Fuselier; seconded by Councilwoman Flo Chatman). The council granted 30 days for cleanup at 126 Martin Luther King Drive after a request from Tyrus Potier (motion moved by Councilman Jonas Fontenette; seconded by Councilwoman Janise Anthony).
The council also gave Myndal James and Jennifer Munro two weeks to board up the house at 440 S. Vivier Street; if the property is not secured in that time the city will board it and charge the owner (motion moved by Councilman Jonas Fontenette; seconded by Councilman Mike Fuselier). Blair Boudreaux was given two weeks to provide final plans for the property at 215 Honore Street (motion moved by Councilwoman Janise Anthony; seconded by Councilman Mike Fuselier).
Chief Ricky Martin reported that at Mayor's Court on Jan. 27, City Magistrate Eddie Guidry ordered Dennis Pitre to clean his nuisance property at 2040 Gerard Street within 30 days or face five days in jail; that order was reported to the council as an enforcement update.
All of the motions related to enforcement were recorded in the minutes as unanimously carried; the minutes do not record roll-call tallies.
