Board authorizes attorney to negotiate settlements in two employment lawsuits

The St. John the Baptist Parish School Board convened in executive session Feb. 11 to discuss two pending employment lawsuits and afterwards authorized its attorney to negotiate settlements.
The board moved into executive session to address Lakesha Holder v. St. John the Baptist Parish School Board (case no. 67354, Division A, 40th Judicial District Court) and Rosalyn Fizer v. St. John the Baptist Parish School Board (case no. 67024, Division A, 40th Judicial District Court). The board reconvened in open session and, on motions by Albert Burl and seconded by Clarence Triche, granted Attorney Jeffrey Diez authority to negotiate settlement agreements in both cases; each authority motion passed on a 9–0 roll call (two members were recorded absent for the reconvened vote).
What happens next: Attorney Diez is authorized to negotiate settlements; any settlement terms would be returned to the board for final approval as required by law.
