The St. John the Baptist Parish School Board received a detailed finance update Feb. 11 from P&N representative Tommy Naquin about payroll and reporting issues as the district manages pandemic-related funding.
Naquin said corrected W-2s will be mailed after errors were discovered in the initial W-2s. He told the board P&N is working to complete the Annual Financial Report (AFR) to meet state requirements. Naquin warned that the district has taken revenue hits and that "some hard decisions will have to be made" because the budget had been overestimated for sales/property tax revenue.
Superintendent Dr. Lynett Hookfin reported the district had a CARES Act allocation of $3.7 million and that the approval process with vendor All South could take one to two months. She also noted that the district still has open positions for Chief Financial Officer and Purchasing Director and is using P&N as interim support.
Board member Patrick Sanders asked whether employees had been notified of a TAP payout date and requested that the superintendent put any date in writing for staff; Dr. Hookfin said administration has not set a date and will notify employees when it is established.
What happens next: P&N will finalize the AFR and mail corrected W-2s; the administration will continue recruiting for the CFO and Purchasing Director posts and will advise employees in writing about TAP payout timelines.
