The Ansonia Board of Education recognized sixth-grade student Sofia Diaz at its May 20 meeting for independently raising more than $1,000 to benefit the Middle School Best Buddies program.
Sara Crooks presented Diaz with a certificate and described the student’s initiative and generosity, saying the fundraiser will support inclusion activities and that Diaz exemplifies the district’s Vision of the Graduate competencies. The board offered congratulations and appreciation for the student’s leadership and service to her school community.
The recognition was ceremonial; no board action was required.
