Sevierville board approves maintenance contract, traffic-signal construction, wastewater changes and other expenditures

At its May 4 meeting the Sevierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved multiple contracts, expenditures and intergovernmental agreements covering road maintenance, traffic control, wastewater construction and facility use.
Public Works Director Doug Tarwater secured Board approval of a two-year Tennessee Department of Transportation maintenance contract with a maximum reimbursement of $429,272.52 ($214,636.26 per fiscal year). The Board also awarded a construction contract for a traffic signal at Collier Drive and Ridge Road to low bidder Southern Constructors for $538,465.00.
Water & Sewer Director Keith Malone obtained approval for change order #6 to the McCroskey Island wastewater treatment plant expansion with Judy Construction Co. in the amount of $141,599.46, citing additional platforms and ladders in the dewatering building, sidewalk work, a spare pump, a credit for light pole receptacles and a revised final completion date of Sept. 6, 2026. The Board also approved an amendment to Jacobs Engineering's task order for extended construction management of the wastewater treatment plant for $235,000.
The Board approved two Ardurra Engineering task orders requested by Malone: Task Order #19 for the N Knob Creek force main relocation for $28,800 and Task Order #20 for the City Park main relocation for $11,800. Golf Director Bob Parker received approval to spend up to $32,929.21 on the Eagles Nest covered range project (KaTom equipment $12,244.21; gas heater $20,685). Parker also won Board approval for an agreement allowing Sevier County School Board sports teams to use city athletic facilities, the Community Center and the golf course for the 2026–2027 school year.
The Board approved a sewer connection for Oak City Baptist Church for a new children's building after Malone noted the connection would shift but not increase total volume; Alderman Travis McCroskey abstained from that vote.
