Council extends library lease, asks attorney to revise Island Club lease and accepts Stith Park engineering proposal

Council voted to extend Charleston County's Poe Library lease for use of Battery Gadsden to 20 years. Council also instructed Town Attorney Anthony Stith Jr. to revise the Island Club lease to change the proposed term from one year to five years; the motion to renew and extend the Island Club lease was withdrawn and replaced by the instruction to the attorney. Finally, council unanimously accepted the proposal from Thomas & Hutton for stormwater engineering and construction oversight for Stith Park; the firm will handle bidding and oversee the overall project.
Town Administrator Joe Henderson said the Thomas & Hutton contract allows the consultant to proceed with procurement and construction oversight. No motions were recorded as made during the executive session itself; formal votes were taken after returning to open session.
