PZC reviews regional website, clears small retail request and schedules lot‑coverage discussion

The Bolton Planning & Zoning Commission on Aug. 14 viewed a demonstration of the Connecticut's Countryside website, a four‑town regional project (Bolton, Coventry, Tolland and Mansfield) that allows businesses to create listings and towns to post events.
Patrice Carson also reported that the owner of D&S Yardworks at 255 Hop River Road requested retail sales at the front of the building, a use that operated under previous ownership. Carson and zoning enforcement officer Michael D'Amato said staff could process the request as a modified administrative approval; the commission supported that approach. Carson reminded the owner that wood stacked at the front must be moved and processing should occur in the rear in the industrial zone.
For ongoing zoning work, Carson asked commissioners to consider lot‑coverage and building‑coverage rules for business zones. Chairman Tom Manning said he would place that specific item on the September agenda and asked staff to prepare a recommended amendment or approach for the commission to review.
The meeting adjourned at 9:01 p.m. after a 7–0 roll‑call vote on the adjournment motion.
