Parks, police and public works updates: gym flooring, a GTSP grant and a well repair

Peosta — Department heads briefed the council on ongoing operations, including a parks-and-recreation flooring project, a police grant submission and a public-works maintenance item.

Stacy from parks and recreation reported that a gym-flooring replacement has been delayed to September to reduce impact on summer programming; she said a prior test spot failed, the vendor supports the product warranty, and staff aim to keep portions of the facility open while the work proceeds. Stacy told the council the staff considered third-shift installation but that would extend the timeline and that the vendor prefers a full contiguous installation rather than a half-gym closure.

The police chief said the department submitted an application for a Governor's Traffic Safety Bureau enforcement (GTSP) grant, due Feb. 28, which reimburses departments for overtime; the chief said award amounts vary by department and last year a $9,000 request yielded $6,000 in reimbursement.

Public works (Dean) said a recent well-related invoice will likely be processed through the city's insurance and he has coordinated with the well driller to handle repairs and communications.
