Dallas County formalizes EMS equipment maintenance contracts and hears billing audit update

The Dallas County Board approved three‑year preventative maintenance agreements for emergency medical equipment during its June 23 meeting.
EMS Director Kristen Brady presented a proposed multi‑year preventive maintenance contract with Zoll to cover inspection, testing and maintenance of cardiac monitors, and a Stryker service agreement covering power cots, power load systems and LUCAS automated chest compression devices. The Stryker agreement includes a battery exchange program. Brady said the contracts formalize maintenance work that has occurred previously and are intended to ensure ongoing reliability and manufacturer‑recommended service schedules.
Supervisor Kim Chapman moved and Supervisor Brad Golightly seconded to close the public hearing and approve both contracts; the board authorized the chair to sign and recorded the motion as 'all ayes.'
Separately, representatives from PCC, Michelle and Travis Smith, provided an EMS billing workshop and practice analysis. They reported month‑by‑month insurance billing data and said the EMS billing program recently underwent a routine Medicare audit that was completed with no issues identified. The presenters described ongoing coordination between PCC and county EMS staff on budgeting and billing operations; no procurement action was requested on billing services at this meeting.
The board directed staff to execute the maintenance contracts and schedule preventive maintenance tasks under the agreements.
