The Tega Cay Steering Committee met on May 27, 2025, at the Philip T. Glennon Center and approved the April meeting minutes unanimously before hearing a Comprehensive Plan update. The committee recorded a quorum and adjourned at 6:56 P.M.
Erika Stahl, of the Catawba Regional Council of Governments, presented revised population projection figures and reviewed findings from the city's recently adopted Parks and Recreation Master Plan. Stahl identified opportunities to enhance parks and open spaces, calling out Windhaven Park and Nivens Creek Landing as sites with potential for upgrades and new programming. She noted the possibility of incorporating functional art and using the existing topography of parks as design assets to expand passive and active uses.
Stahl also reported additional resident feedback collected during the planning process, saying there is community interest in more programming geared toward teenagers and seniors with mobility issues. The presentation focused on how projected population shifts and the Parks and Recreation Master Plan data could guide prioritization of park improvements and programming expansions.
Before the presentation, the committee approved the April meeting minutes on a motion by Committee Member Chris Gray, seconded by Michael Wilhelm; the motion passed unanimously. The meeting concluded after a motion to adjourn by Gray, seconded by Chris Leonard, which also passed unanimously.
The committee did not take any formal votes on park projects or funding at this meeting. Staff (Nick Cauthen, Development Services Director, and Planner I Maddie Lee) were present and will carry forward any follow-up actions related to the Comprehensive Plan and Parks and Recreation Master Plan items for future meetings.
