PTO-funded ArtSpot tile mural planned for elementary school lobby to boost community engagement

Teachers and PTO organizers proposed an ArtSpot tile mural for the elementary school entrance, to be fully funded by the EHES PTO and Square One Art fundraising and executed as a three-day community event involving students, families and volunteers; the board would only need to arrange hanging the finished panels.
Megan, presenting on behalf of school staff, described a proposed three-panel tile mural to be produced with ArtSpot and installed in the front of the elementary school.
She said the project would be fully funded by the EHES PTO and proceeds from the Square One Art fundraiser and asked the board only to allow staff time and facilities help to hang the finished panels. "The artist residence program is inclusive of everything that's needed to create the mural...there would be no cost to the board of education," Megan said.
The proposal calls for students to vote on a design and for a community installation event in which family members and senior volunteers could participate. Presenters said ArtSpot supplies the pre-cut, color-coded tiles and onsite facilitators and that the finished mural would hang prominently in the elementary-school lobby.
Board members asked how the PTO coordinates fundraising with district needs and whether outreach plans would engage senior residents. Presenters said the PTO meets monthly with staff, funds curricular cultural-arts programs and has supported assemblies and student experiences tied to curriculum.
Next steps: staff will send design materials and fundraising documentation to the superintendent for distribution to the board; Don’s facilities crew will assist with hanging once the mural is complete.
