Parks department reports revenue gains, pauses master plan and previews Veterans Park opening

At the Merboro Parks and Recreation Commission meeting, finance staff reported strong year-to-date revenue growth and a pause in master plan implementation pending leadership transitions at Sportscom.
Nate told commissioners the department’s revenues rose considerably through May and highlighted what he described as an internal milestone: "I think we've had our first million-doll revenue producing facility uh this year," he said. He also said the department has closed the fiscal year and will present a year-end recap at the next meeting.
On capital projects, Nate said Veterans Park construction is ahead of schedule and staff will bring a definitive opening date as soon as it is confirmed. He added that the master plan work has been paused while the department incorporates new leadership at Sportscom before moving into implementation.
Commissioners asked for follow-up reporting; Nate said staff will continue to populate the master plan data and will return with additional financial detail at the next meeting. No formal vote was required for the operational update.
