Toms River board swears in new members and unanimously elects Ashley Lamb president

The Toms River Regional School District board opened its regular Dec. 24 meeting, confirmed that the session had been publicly noticed in the Asbury Park Press and the Star Ledger, and led the Pledge of Allegiance.

During the meeting Mr. Burns administered the oath of office to newly elected board members Kathleen Egan (Township), Katie Coin (Beachwood Township) and Kevin Kney (Pine Beach Township). The members recited the statutory oath, citing the U.S. and New Jersey constitutions and the applicable statutory provision (NJSA 18A 12-1).

The board then conducted its organizational business. The clerk opened nominations for president; Ashley Lamb was nominated and, following a roll-call vote, was appointed and elected president. The roll-call for the president appointment recorded verbal "yes" votes from Matarazzo, Jubert, Coin, Egan, Kidney, Pascarella, Capone and Lamb. A subsequent nomination and roll-call vote appointed James Capone as vice president; the recorded votes were likewise affirmative.

The clerk invited public comment, noting board policy 0167 limits comments from guests and the press to five minutes and requesting speakers sign in and state their names and addresses for the record. No members of the public came forward, and that portion of the agenda was closed.

A motion to adjourn was made and seconded; the board voted in favor and concluded the meeting, with a reminder that committee meetings are scheduled for the following week.
