Ridgefield officials say Veterans Park roof bid marked awarded; summer 2026 work targeted

Jill Brown, a member of the district administrative team, said the district’s CORE‑CT grant application for the Veterans Park roofing project is marked as awarded and that the district is awaiting an official award letter. “Our bid is marked as awarded for the Veterans Park roofing project,” Brown said, adding that the district will meet with state officials to confirm square footage accepted and the final award amount.

Jake Muller, identified in the meeting as the town’s director of public works, said the Veterans Park roof project is 95% design complete and that the team hopes to begin installation in the summer of 2026. “The project is 95% design complete,” Muller said, and the town is resolving a small issue with a glass block wall near a kindergarten wing before moving into state conversations on the grant application.

Brown told the committee Ridgefield’s reimbursement rate from the state’s formula is 24.48 percent but cautioned that after ineligible expenses the practical reimbursement is likely nearer 20 percent. The district’s estimate for the Veterans Park portion of the work is a little over $2.7 million; Brown said final sequencing of other roof projects (including work at East Ridge Middle School and a black‑box theater/cafeteria section at the high school) depends on the exact award and any rebate amounts.

The town’s director of public works said the high‑school work is also planned for the coming summer and that the district will use reimbursement proceeds to schedule subsequent projects. No vote or formal commitment was taken; presenters said staff will take the next procedural steps with state agencies and return updates when award details are finalized.

The committee moved on to a longer master‑planning presentation led by consultants from M&P Planning and Studio Jade, which covered enrollment projections, capacity and utilization, and a separate facility condition assessment.
