Members reported the Hardwick town administrator offered to help the town on Fridays and after April 4 if the board needed temporary coverage. The group said several applicants have expressed interest; the board agreed it would be appropriate to have an interim to support operations through town meeting.
On logistics, members discussed interviewing as a posted, fully remote session under Massachusetts open-meeting rules or as short lunch-hour interviews. One member said, “I don't have time to interview anybody,” and the board agreed staff could pre-screen candidates and schedule ranked interviews during lunch hours Monday–Wednesday, with Karen handling posting and notice. Members preferred to rank-order candidates and bring recommended finalists to the board for discussion.
The board did not appoint an interim at the meeting but directed staff to confirm candidate interest, post interview times, and report back with interview results and recommendations.
