Spencer council sets initial board terms, declares surplus items and hears TDEC-approved pump station plans

The Spencer council approved initial staggered term lengths for charter members of the newly created Economic Development and Tourism board at the Sept. 26 meeting. The motion set initial terms of two or three years for named members (Mayor-term of elected position; local tourism director — TBD; Brad Taylor — 2 years; Lesa Bouldin — 3 years; Mika Davis — 2 years; Kenny Delon — 3 years; Susan Spears — 2 years; Gage Farmer — 3 years; David Cook — 2 years; Earl Delong — 3 years; CeCe Martin — 2 years; Rebecca Harris — 3 years; Chris Binkley — 2 years). The council recorded that, after these initial staggered terms expire, all terms will be two years.
The council also approved Resolution 2024-6 to declare surplus property: a Canon printer and an office chair, both described as broken and in poor condition. Alderman Hensley moved to approve the resolution and Alderman Blankenship seconded; the roll-call vote was unanimous.
Zeda Hillis, representing James C. Hailey, updated the council that TDEC has returned approved plans for the Piney pump station. She also reported that a quick-claim deed for the river project has been approved and the documents have been left for the mayor to sign.
With no further business, Alderman Chandler moved to adjourn; Alderman Blankenship seconded and the meeting was adjourned.
