Spencer council gives first reading to rezone 240 College St. for storage facility

At the Sept. 26 meeting the Spencer council took up a first reading of Ordinance 2024-6 to rezone 240 College St. from C-1 to C-2 following a planning commission recommendation.
The rezoning request was submitted by Ms. Larrinaga to permit storage buildings on the adjacent lot that will face her barber shop. Council discussion included a question from Alderman Chandler about the planned color scheme; the transcript records that the storage facility will have a metal structure, a concrete pad, and a color scheme similar to the existing shop.
Alderman Chandler moved to approve the first reading and Alderman Nance seconded. The roll-call vote was recorded as Alderman Hensley Absent, Alderman Nance Yes, Vice Mayor Campbell Yes, Alderman Blankenship Yes and Alderman Chandler Yes. The motion passed on first reading.
