Cochran council approves minutes, business license change and reappointment; discusses AirMedCare benefit
Summary
At its Oct. 10 meeting the council unanimously approved minutes, unanimously amended the business license due date to Dec. 31 (from Mar. 15), reappointed Debra Turner to the housing authority by consensus, and agreed to offer AirMedCare as an optional employee-paid benefit during open enrollment; the council also entered executive session for personnel and adjourned.
The Cochran City Council carried several procedural and administrative actions during its Oct. 10 meeting:
- Minutes and agenda housekeeping: Council voted unanimously to approve the Sept. 10, 2024 regular-meeting minutes (motion by Council Member Gary Ates; second: Council Member Andrew Lemmon) and unanimously approved removing agenda item #3 earlier in the meeting (motion by Council Member Shane Savant; second: Council Member Gary Ates).
- Business license due date amended: The council amended the City Business License Ordinance to change the license due date from March 15 to December 31 of the preceding year to align with the fiscal year (motion by Council Member Andrew Lemmon; second: Council Member Gary Ates). The vote was unanimous.
- Reappointment: By consensus the council reappointed Debra Turner to a four-year term on the Cochran Housing Authority.
- Employee benefit: Wendy Simpson of Air Evac briefed the council on optional AirMedCare membership for employees, to be funded entirely via payroll deductions. Council members asked clarifying questions about obligations and structure; there was consensus to offer the benefit during the next open enrollment period, but no formal vote.
- Executive session and adjournment: The council entered executive session at 8:30 PM to discuss personnel matters (motion by Council Member Keith Anderson; second: Council Member Lonnie Tedders), exited at 8:33 PM, and adjourned at 8:34 PM.
