Cochran council tables proposed water and sewer connection ordinance change after legal concerns

Councilmember Carla Coley cautioned that Senate Bill 121 restricts municipalities from requiring connections for farms or residences on at least one acre and recommended measuring connection distance from the right-of-way rather than from buildings to align with state law. The council agreed to table the item to refine the ordinance language and return it at a later meeting.
No vote on the ordinance change was taken; the item was tabled for further drafting and legal review.
