Cochran council extends liquor licenses, awards $38,500 floor repair contract and appoints Tyler Sapp to library board

The Cochran City Council voted unanimously Sept. 10 to extend the expiration dates of two liquor licenses by six months after discussing delays tied to required sewage connections. Councilmember Gary Ates moved the extension upon the council's return from executive session; Councilmember Andrew Lemmon seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Public Works Director Willie Barrow presented the only bid received to repair the East Dykes wing floor at the municipal building, a $38,500 proposal from Darrell Brown. Councilmember Gary Ates moved to accept the bid; Councilmember Andrew Lemmon seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Councilmember Shane Savant raised concern about frequently receiving a single bid for city projects and suggested the city consider a full renovation rather than piecemeal repairs in the future.
Mayor Billy Yeomans nominated Tyler Sapp to serve a four-year term on the Library Board running July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2028; Councilmember Shane Savant moved to appoint Sapp, Councilmember Andrew Lemmon seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The council also approved amendments to the agenda and accepted minutes from prior meetings by unanimous vote earlier in the session. The meeting adjourned at 9:50 p.m.
