Mayor Pro Tem reported that the city's annual Reindeer Run drew about 3,902 runners, generated roughly $58,000 in sponsorship revenue and produced adjusted net proceeds of more than $100,000. She said the Ontario Montclair Schools Foundation will receive $79,880.90, with the remainder earmarked for the city's recreation scholarship fund.
Dr. Felix Melendez, executive director of the Promise Scholars program at the Ontario Montclair Schools Foundation, thanked the city and described the program's college-and-career curriculum. He said the Promise Scholars program is in its 13th year and that, through partnerships and recent investments, the foundation has been able to provide nearly $90,000 in scholarships to Chaffey High School students and expects to continue that support in coming years.
Melendez also said he will hand the directorship to Kim Tovar next week and thanked city staff, foundation board members and public-safety leaders who supported the event.
