Tim Lee presented an overview of Chapter 74 vocational tuition and transportation at the Town of Otis Selectboard meeting on Nov. 12, 2025, explaining that Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) regulations allow the School Committee to adopt a policy formalizing preferred vocational choices for member towns.
According to the presentation, Otis currently identifies Smith Vocational and Westfield Tech as its preferred vocational schools. The School Committee will circulate a letter to member towns asking for their preferences as part of the upcoming selection round.
No formal vote was taken by the Selectboard at the meeting; the presentation was informational and intended to inform towns ahead of the School Committee’s policy process.
