Concord Cemetery Committee elects chair and vice chair; approves lot transfers and repurchase

At its May 6 meeting the Town of Concord Cemetery Committee unanimously elected Beth van Duzer chair and Rebecca Noke vice chair, appointed Noke to the Columbarium Subcommittee, approved a Chase-to-Corson lot transfer and a Deysher lot repurchase, and amended April minutes to remove a lot not owned by Norma Shapiro.
The Town of Concord Cemetery Committee voted unanimously at its May 6 meeting to install new leadership and approve several cemetery lot actions.
Rebecca Noke moved to nominate Beth van Duzer as chair for the coming year; Geoff Walton seconded the motion and the committee voted 4-0 to elect van Duzer. Van Duzer then moved to nominate Noke as vice chair; Bridget Rodrigue seconded and the motion carried 4-0. The committee also voted 4-0 to appoint Rebecca Noke to the Columbarium Subcommittee.
On lot matters, Cemetery Supervisor Tish Hopkins described a request from descendants of the Corson family to transfer ownership of lot 25 Star Circle. Hopkins said Elton Chase purchased that lot in 1973 for Helen and Robert Corson and the Chase family is amenable to transferring ownership. Richard Corson told the committee he wishes to be buried with his relatives; the committee approved the Chase-to-Corson transfer by unanimous vote.
The committee also approved a lot repurchase request from Cynthia and Bryan Deysher for three lots (109, 110 and 111 Dogwood Path), which they bought for $7,200 and wish to sell back for the original price; the motion passed 4-0. Finally, the committee amended its April 1 minutes to remove 44 Acacia Path from a prior Shapiro lot transfer approval after town staff discovered the lot was not owned by Norma Shapiro.
Bridget Rodrigue moved to adjourn the meeting at 4:21 p.m.; Rebecca Noke seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
