Several summer capital projects—switch gear replacement at Intermediate North and boiler replacements—are ready to go out to bid if proposals return as expected.
Facilities noted a water-meter connection project at High School South that had an initial estimate of roughly $65,000 but was re-scoped and completed at about $12,000. Staff recognized crews for rapid response during the first snowstorm and routine maintenance.
Board members raised HVAC and building-controls discrepancies: facilities staff (Brian) said they are implementing in-house fixes and working with the vendor to restore consistent communication between the building graphics page and thermostats. On accessibility, staff said the elevator at South River Elementary is expected to be completed by summer, and interim accommodations are in place to keep affected students on first-floor classrooms when needed.
Staff also reported submission of a playground grant request for Pine Beach Elementary with municipal support; the district awaits results.
Next steps: facilities will proceed with bidding where appropriate, continue HVAC troubleshooting with the vendor, and track the elevator repair schedule; staff will inform the board as grant and bid outcomes are settled.
